How it all started...
After 5 years of being the Senior Pastor of the historic First Baptist Church of Elkridge where there was tremendous growth numerically, financially and most importantly spiritually, Pastor Alan Postell was obedient to the voice of God and stepped out on faith to launch Greater Destiny Christian Ministries. With no funds, no members nor even a place of worship, Pastor and his wife and two daughters stood on the Word of God and moved forward. Through the benevolence of a former member who owned Burketh Enterprises in Laurel Maryland, they donated a 900 square foot portion of their warehouse and we launched our initial service on December 22, 2013 and by the grace of God, 58 persons made a commitment to become 'Partners' of Greater Destiny Christian Ministries.

Expanding the vision...
Acts 2:47 was in full effect as we continued, "praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved." The end result was after experiencing amazing growth, we out grew our facility in Laurel and we stepped out on faith and on February 1, 2015, we began leasing a 4,500 square foot building in Halethorpe Maryland. It was in that location that we increased out community outreach support with feeding, sheltering and ministering to the homeless while helping partners grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Where we are headed...
After experiencing another growth spurt and yet wanting to be good stewards over our finances, we made the decision to not renew our lease in 2019 and have entered into a shared space agreement with our Korean brothers and sisters in Christ in Glen Burnie. This arrangement has allowed us to continue to focus on outreach, but also aggressively save money towards the purchase of our own building.

Our Greater Destiny is Here...
The Scripture declares in Matthew 25:21, "...you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things..." God has really honored His Word and smiled on our ministry as He allowed us to actually purchase the building that we were renting in Glen Burnie. We never thought about purchasing this building as it wasn't even for sale, but that changed in 2023 when it went on the market for almost $2M. We knew that 'financially' it was out of our ballpark, but if it was the Lord's will, He would make a way. At the end of the day, we were able to purchase this 25,000 square foot building for $1.4M. In addition, were able to continue to rent out the parsonage, chapel and missionary space that produces enough monthly income to cover all of our utility expenses. Moreover, we have been able to establish strong relationships with our tenants that has enabled us to do ministry TOGETHER in our community. We are excited about the renovations taking place in the building, but we are more excited about the impact we can make in this community in beyond. Won't God Do It???
